Events & Programming

Events & Programming

The SVPS Centre is deeply invested in events and programming initiatives that raise awareness through workshops, trainings, programs, and campaigns. Our programming, like all of our training and education, is guided by principles outlined in the University Expert Panel’s Guiding Principles for Sexual Violence Education and Prevention Initiatives.

Event Calendar

In addition to offering unique, standalone workshops and events throughout the year, the Centre offers several ongoing programs for members of the U of T community. These welcoming, supportive spaces are all about building-up a community of care on campus, and providing regular, dependable support to all. Browse through our event calendar below to learn more about upcoming virtual and in-person offerings across the U of T tri-campus.

Ongoing Programming

Join us on Wednesdays at B139 Gerstein Library to find a likeminded community of students, and participate in activities as you choose. We have discussion topics, and a caring team of fellow students to offer support.

Crafternoon Tea is an opportunity to disconnect in a safe, welcoming environment with snacks, tea or coffee, and (of course) crafts! These sessions are open to students, staff, and faculty at U of T.

Restorative Reading is all about building-up a community of readers who encourage each other to read when they can as a way to decompress and learn together.

Healing Hearts is a support group for people of all genders who have had an experience of sexual violence or harassment. Join us to talk consent, pleasure, healthy boundaries, intimacy after trauma, and more.

How are we doing?

We’re always working to improve the experiences of those who access our services. We want to hear what’s working and how we can do better.

Training & Workshops

The Centre works in collaboration with individuals, groups, and departments at U of T to strengthen skills and build tools to address sexual violence. Our educational strategy is centred on equity, prevention, and healing.

Annual Programming

Healing Through the Intersections

Healing Through the Intersections is an annual event held in October that focuses on honouring and creating space for intersectional experiences of sexual violence, sexual harassment, and healing. As part of this initiative, we’re offering a collaborative funding opportunity for U of T student, staff, and faculty groups.
