Counselling services at the University of Toronto and beyond are in place to support individuals who have experienced sexual violence, abuse, harassment, and/or other personal challenges. This page lists numerous counselling resources on the provincial level, in addition to care centres on U of T campuses and in their surrounding areas. Please note: for academic or financial counselling, students should contact their registrar’s office or their academic department.

24/7 Counselling Resources for U of T employees and students

Employee & Family Assistance Program

Individuals who work at U of T have access to the Employee & Family Assistance Program, which offers confidential short-term counselling.

TELUS Health Student Support

TELUS Health Student Support provides 24/7 support or appointment-based confidential support for mental health, school, and more by call or text in 146 languages.

Good2Talk – Helpline for Post-secondary Students

Good2Talk offers free and confidential counselling services for postsecondary students in Ontario. They support students through a wide range of issues that may be impacting their mental health and well-being, including depression, anxiety, substance use, academic stress, relationships, and other challenges.

Ontario Coalition of Rape Crisis Centres

The Ontario Coalition of Rape Crisis Centres is a network of 30+ English-language sexual assault centres in Ontario. Their website features information on sexual assault centres across the provinces, offering counselling, information and support services to survivors of sexual violence, including childhood sexual abuse and incest.

Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Care Centres

The Ontario network of Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Care Centres offers counselling services, documentation, forensic evidence collection, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, risk assessment , and more.

Mississauga-based Counselling Resources

UTM Health & Counselling Centre (for U of T students only)

The Health & Counselling Centre offers same-day and scheduled private, confidential, and non-judgmental counselling sessions for eligible students. Their clinicians are trained to provide short-term therapy services, resource recommendations, and more.

Family Services of Peel

Family Services of Peel provides professional counselling, educational programs, employment support services, support for people with developmental disabilities and their families, as well as support for victims of violence and abuse.

REVIVE (formerly Hope 24/7: Sexual Assault Centre of Peel)

REVIVE is an accredited, culturally grounded, trauma-informed organization that centres on the healing and wellness of survivors of gender-based violence and trauma from marginalized communities.

Safe Centre of Peel

The Safe Centre of Peel is a dedicated and inclusive space where a network of agencies collaborates under one roof to provide comprehensive support and compassionate care for families impacted by abuse and violence in the Peel region.

Toronto-based Counselling Resources

UTSG Health & Wellness Centre (for U of T students only)

The Health & Wellness Centre at the U of T St. George campus offers a variety of counselling options to suit your needs – including same-day appointments, short-term psychotherapy, evidence-based group sessions, and access to professionals with expertise in servicing communities of colour.

Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic

The Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic offers legal, counselling and interpretation services to marginalized and racialized populations of women and gender diverse people who have survived violence.

Bekaadendang (Being Peaceful) Program – Native Child and Family Services of Toronto 

Culturally grounded trauma-informed counselling, intensive case management and service coordination, community outreach worker, psychoeducation.

Family Service Toronto

Family Service Toronto helps people who are confronted with a variety of life challenges. They assist individuals and families through counselling, public education programs, advocacy work, and more.

Toronto Rape Crisis Centre / Multicultural Women against Rape

The Toronto Rape Crisis Centre has trained peer counsellors who will help you explore possible options, prepare a safety plan, navigate other systems, set goals, learn healthy coping strategies, etc. to equip you on your healing journey.

What’s Up Walk-In Clinic

The What’s Up Walk-In network is Toronto’s only free, six-day-a-week mental health counselling walk-in service for infants, children, youth, young adults, and families. Therapists offer walk-in, single, solution focused sessions.

Scarborough-based Counselling Resources

UTSC Health & Wellness Centre (for U of T students only)

The Health & Wellness Centre team at U of T Scarborough includes counsellors available to provide support to registered students.

Family Service Toronto

Family Service Toronto’s Scarborough location offers counselling services that help people explore options, find solutions, develop coping strategies, identify strengths, locate information, provide resources and promote healing, resiliency and self-empowerment.

Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities

This centre offers a program with free one-on-one counselling for people who have experienced spousal/partner abuse for domestic violence. Their all-female team of counsellors has extensive experience working with trauma survivors.

What’s Up Walk-In Clinic

What’s Up Walk-In Clinic locations in Scarborough offer free virtual and in-person, six day a week mental health counselling walk-in service for children, youth, young adults, and families – helping with issues such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, sexual identity matters, and more.
